ALLEN PARK SPLASH PAD

Where: 3609 Race St. Jonesboro at Allen Park and is conveniently located next to an adventurous playground, an innovative skate park, and expansive tennis courts.
When: The Splash pad opens in mid-spring until late fall and operates from 10 a.m. until sunset 7 days a week.
The Splash Pad was funded using State grants for community developments; and has been a much appreciated amenity for summer relief since 2005. The Splash Pad has 5 major features: the rainbow, the fumbling five, the geysers, the water tunnel, and the water cannons. The rainbow is a series of pipes that form a short tunnel filled with a cool mist. The fumbling five are five buckets high atop a pole that fill with water and dump over onto anticipating children. The geysers shoot from the ground at random intervals to soak people unexpectedly. The water tunnel is a group of streams that shoot up fall down creating water arches. The water cannons are two guns that can shoot at each other but turn off when aimed at unsuspecting parents.
To turn the Splash pad on all you have to do is enter the gate and gently touch the Magic Button. The Magic Button is a large hand sized black button on top of a lone red pole as seen in the photo; once the button is pressed the show will begin. In order to conserve water and add a bit of randomness to the Splash Pad only 3-4 of the 5 features run at any given time. Those features alternate rotation while the Splash Pad is running. The water is recycled by going through a filtration system where it is also treated to ensure the health and safety of the community.
